Working with adults

Therapy provides a safe and confidential setting in which to explore thoughts & worries, feelings & memories, dreams & fantasies.

It can:-

  • Help you to gain greater insight and understanding into your thoughts & feelings.

  • Provide new perspectives on your situation which allow you to have a greater range of choice and possibilities in your life.

  • Help you to find a way through the difficulties of life – especially the places where you are stuck.

  • Provide support during difficult periods, such as a bereavement, or relationship difficulties.

  • Support you in coping with difficult feelings.

  • Help you sort out your priorities and make clear choices about the future.

​The overall aim is to understand the unconscious origin of our difficulties – and how these difficulties repeat themselves in our relationships, and in the events of our life in the ‘here and now’.​

 

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

In addition to my background in the Humanistic and Integrative tradition of therapy, I am also qualified to work using Internal Family Systems therapy, more commonly known as IFS.  This is a radical new way of doing therapy which is becoming increasingly popular around the world.

Whether it be wanting to bring resolution to ordinary, current, every-day life issues, or working to heal PTSD, trauma and the wounds of early childhood, I have found IFS to be extraordinarily powerful and effective.
