Working with adults
Therapy provides a safe and confidential setting in which to explore thoughts & worries, feelings & memories, dreams & fantasies.
It can:-
-
Help you to gain greater insight and understanding into your thoughts & feelings.
-
Provide new perspectives on your situation which allow you to have a greater range of choice and possibilities in your life.
-
Help you to find a way through the difficulties of life – especially the places where you are stuck.
-
Provide support during difficult periods, such as a bereavement, or relationship difficulties.
-
Support you in coping with difficult feelings.
-
Help you sort out your priorities and make clear choices about the future.
The overall aim is to understand the unconscious origin of our difficulties – and how these difficulties repeat themselves in our relationships, and in the events of our life in the ‘here and now’.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
In addition to my background in the Humanistic and Integrative tradition of therapy, I am also qualified to work using Internal Family Systems therapy, more commonly known as IFS. This is a radical new way of doing therapy which is becoming increasingly popular around the world.
Whether it be wanting to bring resolution to ordinary, current, every-day life issues, or working to heal PTSD, trauma and the wounds of early childhood, I have found IFS to be extraordinarily powerful and effective.
